USB interfaces are essential for connecting computers and IT network peripherals. ASSMANN WSW Components offers a variety of connectors to fulfill the design requirements of customers.
The USB 3.0 standard multiplies data transfer and power. Devices connected through this bus system can receive up to 80% more power than the USB 2.0 interface; around 150 mA per unit is now available with up to 900 mA available on request. Standard styles A and B are available off-the-shelf and specialized connectors for specific applications are available upon request. ASSMANN WSW recommends mini-USB and micro-USB connectors for applications with limited PCB space.
Polarized USB connectors come in four or five contact options. Standard style A (according to DIN IEC 61076-3-107) and B (according to DIN IEC 61076-3-108) are available off-the-shelf and specialized connectors are available upon request. ASSMANN WSW recommends mini-USB connectors for applications with limited PCB space.
Though the preferred application for USB 3.0 and polarized USB I/O connectors are EDP and computer accessory markets, these types of I/O connectors are well-suited for a variety of applications, including consumer markets such as photo devices (digital cameras and accessories).
For industrial applications, USB connectors in 12 V and 24 V are based on the original USB design but are considered advanced technology. IEEE 1394 interface connectors with standard THT and SMT contact types are chiefly used for fast data exchange processes between computers and their peripheral devices but are also suited for other industrial and automotive applications.
