Panasonic's ERB-R series surface-mount microchip fuses are used to sense and protect against unwanted increases in circuit current typically caused by overload or short circuits. By providing fast fusing (0.2 sec) in a small 0402 package size, designers can use the ERB-R series microchip fuse to protect valuable and sensitive circuit components, such as ICs, without giving up extra board space. The ERB-R series is introduced to replace the older ERB-S series, and expands the usable temperature range to +125°C, up from +100°C in the previous model. Panasonic applies its precision manufacturing expertise, using laser trimmer technology to allow miniaturization of the fusing element and an overall smaller case size without any sacrifice in performance.
