Radiocrafts' Radiocrafts Industrial Internet of Things (RIIoT) is an efficient 2-way symmetric wireless IIoT star network supporting long range and very low power designed to be easily implemented and to meet the sensor and actuator connectivity requirements for the Industrial IoT (IIoT). The RF protocol is the IEEE802.15.4 g/e standard that supports both 868 MHz and 915 MHz for global applications. RIIoT includes an intelligent C-programmable I/O (i:zi), which makes it possible to directly interface to any sensor or actuator and supports mist computing. RIIoT does not require any license or subscription fee. The SPR and GPR modules are the core of the network nodes and include the complete RIIoT network together with a Linux application in the gateway.
RIIoT is developed for IIoT access networks requiring adaptation to customer needs (network performance, types of sensors, and others); industrial-grade reliability; extensive range; very low power; high node count; swift response time; and no license or subscription costs. RIIoT targets networks where fast time to market and low engineering effort is desired.
Features
- Designed for industrial-grade quality: 99.83% good packets received during a Radiocrafts' test where 28 nodes transmitted data every 4 seconds
- Short development time: the complete network is supported by the functionality included in the SPR and GPR modules and RIIoT Net Controller
- Very low power: leaf nodes run several years on small coin cell batteries and can even be used for energy harvesting
- 2-way symmetric communication with short delays for control applications: less than 15 ms delays allowing for near real-time control, allowing for many thousands of nodes per gateway
- Connects to any sensor chip/controller via ICI: ICI allows even a network designer with little to no RF experience to quickly and easily create any sensor or controller interface using only 100 lines or less of high-level C-code
- Cloud connectivity using JSON objects: the RIIoT Net Controller manages the JSON objects for RIIoT and is the translator to the RIIoT RF packets that are transmitted to the sensors/control units
- Future proof by Over-the-Air (OTA) updates: OTA, combined with ICI, means that the user can update the user-defined ICI firmware, add new sensors/controllers when the need arises, make updates to the ICI application, add new features from Radiocrafts, and make bug fixes
- Supports many leaf nodes: an RIIoT network can have up to 65,000 leaf nodes
- Long range: the module can reach up to 500 m in an urban environment and up to 15 km line of sight
- Exceptionally low packet losses: due to the supported ack/retry and listen-before-talk features
- Global support, software configurable 915 MHz or 868 MHz
